A content owner without its own streaming channel is renting its audience. BH Films wanted to own the relationship — on every device its viewers use.

Producing a film is only half the work. The other half is getting it in front of people — and for most content owners that means handing it to someone else's platform, on someone else's terms. The viewers watch, but they are the platform's viewers. Who watched, on what device, and what they want next stays on the other side of the wall.
That was the gap for BH Films (Blue Hills), an OTT and streaming business in Kerala. They had no streaming channel of their own, no direct data about their audience, and an audience spread across every kind of device — Android phones, iPhones and browsers.
Acube built BH Films a complete OTT platform — Android, iOS and web apps — with subscriptions and pay-per-view, streaming of films and shows, downloads to watch offline, and an admin panel for their team to upload content. The result: their own OTT brand, live on Android, iOS and the web, earning revenue directly from viewers. The project ran between 2022 and 2024.

BH Films had content to show and an audience to show it to. What it lacked was a channel of its own between the two.
They depended on other platforms to reach viewers.
Without their own platform, they couldn't see who was watching their content.
The audience was split across Android phones, iPhones and the web, so a single app on one platform would only reach part of it.
The cost of staying as-is: every title released through someone else's platform builds that platform's audience, not yours — and the viewer data you would need to plan the next release stays with them.

| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Android app | Viewers on Android phones watch in a BH Films app. |
| iOS app | Viewers on iPhone get the same platform. |
| Web app | Viewers can also watch in a browser. |
| Subscriptions & pay-per-view | Viewers pay for a subscription or for a single title — revenue goes to BH Films directly. |
| Streaming of films & shows | Films and shows play inside the BH Films apps and web app. |
| Offline downloads | Viewers save titles to watch later without a connection. |
| Admin panel | The BH Films team uploads and manages content themselves. |
BH Films didn't give us subscriber or download counts, so we are not quoting any. Three outcomes are clear:
BH Films has a streaming platform under its own name.
The platform reaches viewers on all three.
Subscriptions and pay-per-view are paid to BH Films directly.
The three problems pointed straight at the build. No channel of their own meant the platform had to carry the BH Films brand end to end. No audience data meant viewers had to sign up and pay on BH Films' own platform rather than someone else's. And viewers on every device meant Android, iOS and the web had to launch together — an app on one platform alone would have reached only part of the audience.
Two features turn a video app into a business: payment — subscriptions and pay-per-view, so the platform earns — and the admin panel, so new titles go live without a developer. Downloads matter for viewers who can't rely on a connection.

Your own OTT platform, like BH Films', is worth considering when:
and release them through platforms that aren't yours.
, not just how many views a third party reports.
, so one app on one platform won't reach them all.
by subscription, by title, or both.
without waiting for a developer.
If that describes you, the question is not whether you can build a platform — it's which features you need at launch and which can follow.
See what it would cost — Answer a few plain questions about how you work, and see a real figure.
Yes. BH Films' platform launched on all three — Android, iOS and a web app.
Yes. BH Films' platform supports subscriptions and pay-per-view, so viewers pay BH Films for access.
Yes. BH Films has an admin panel for uploading and managing content, so releasing a title doesn't need a developer.
Yes. BH Films' apps let viewers download titles and watch them later without a connection.
When viewers sign up and pay on your own platform, they are your viewers — not a third party's. That was one of the reasons BH Films wanted a channel of its own.
