Solar enquiries were slipping, quotations were made by hand and installations were hard to follow. Soura put the whole job — lead to installation to accounts — into ERPNext.

A solar installation is a long journey for a small business: an enquiry, a site visit, a quotation, an order, materials bought and issued, a crew on the roof, and finally the invoice. When each step lives in a different place — a notebook for leads, a spreadsheet for quotes, a separate package for accounts — enquiries go cold, quotes take days, and nobody can say where any given installation stands.
That was the situation at Soura Natural Energy Solutions, a solar installation (EPC) company in Kerala. Leads were lost or not followed up, quotations were made by hand, installations were hard to track, and stock and accounts were separate.
Acube implemented ERPNext with CRM and lead management: leads, quotations and orders, projects and installations, stock — panels and inverters, and accounts and GST, all in one system. Every lead is now tracked, quotations are faster, every installation is tracked to completion, and stock and accounts are connected. It was a one-off implementation, delivered before 2019.

Soura's work ran across four disconnected stages, and each one leaked.
Enquiries slipped through.
Quotes were slow and inconsistent.
There was no status for each project.
Panels, inverters and the money behind them sat in different tools.
The cost of staying as-is: in solar, an enquiry not followed up this week is an installation a competitor does next month.
ERPNext set up to follow a solar job from the first enquiry to the final entry in the accounts.
| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| CRM & lead management | Every enquiry recorded and followed up. |
| Quotations & orders | Quotations generated in the system and turned into orders. |
| Projects / installations | Each installation tracked as a project, from order to completion. |
| Stock — panels & inverters | Inventory and purchasing for the materials each job uses. |
| Accounts & GST | Finance and tax in the same ERPNext. |
Soura didn't give us a measured figure, so we are not quoting one. All four of these changed:
No enquiry is forgotten.
Quotes come from the system.
Each project has a status.
One system instead of several.
The value is in the chain. In ERPNext a lead becomes a quotation, the quotation becomes an order, the order becomes a project, the project draws stock, and the sale lands in accounts with GST — each step created from the one before. Because nothing is retyped, nothing falls between the steps: the enquiry that used to be forgotten is now the first link in a chain the system follows to the end.
Quotations are faster because they're built from the item and price data already in the system rather than written out each time. Installations are trackable because each one is a project with its own status. It was a one-off implementation: ERPNext set up and handed over for Soura to run. We have implemented ERPNext for solar businesses before — see BSS Green Life Solar — and 70% of our work comes by referral.
ERPNext like Soura's is worth considering when:
because nobody follows them up.
and take too long.
You can't see where each installation stands.
Stock and accounts sit in separate tools.
You want one system from enquiry to invoice.
If that sounds like your business, start by mapping one job from enquiry to final invoice. Every step on that map is something ERPNext should hold.
See what it would cost — Answer a few plain questions about how you work, and see a real figure.
