Frappe’s single-server Docker guide recommends 2 vCPU, 4 GB RAM and a 50 GB SSD as a starting point. More users, heavier reports and more sites need more.
Create an Ubuntu 24.04 or Debian 13 droplet, point your domain at it, open only SSH, 80 and 443, then run bench’s Easy Install script with the deploy command. It is the same on any VPS.
80 and 443 for the website and HTTPS — Let’s Encrypt needs both reachable — plus SSH for you. Nothing else needs to face the internet.
Frappe’s Docker image includes push_backup.py, which sends the latest backup to any S3-compatible storage such as AWS S3 or DigitalOcean Spaces. Schedule it, and practise restoring.
The script has an upgrade command. Take a backup and read the release notes first, and try a major version on a copy before the live server.
We set up ERPNext on your cloud server with offsite backups we test, monitoring and upgrades — and stay on call. Talk to a consultant.
