Version 16, the current release. Version 15 uses a different toolchain — its tests run on Python 3.11 and Node 18.
Backups
bench can schedule them (bench setup backups), but a backup is only real once you have restored it somewhere.
Upgrades
Minor updates arrive weekly; a major version is a project — test on a copy before the live site.
HTTPS renewals
Let’s Encrypt certificates expire every few months. The renewal job must keep working.
Install the system packages and toolchain from Frappe’s guide, then run bench init, bench get-app erpnext, bench new-site and bench --site <site> install-app erpnext. For production, either set up Nginx and Supervisor with bench or use the Easy Install script, which uses Docker.
Frappe’s installation guide lists Python 3.14, Node 24, MariaDB 11.8, Redis or Valkey and Yarn, on Ubuntu 24.04+, Debian 13+ or macOS.
From the bench folder run bench new-site with the site name. It asks for the MariaDB root password and an Administrator password, then bench --site <site> install-app erpnext installs ERPNext on it.
bench only sets up Let’s Encrypt when DNS-based multitenancy is on. Run bench config dns_multitenant on, set up production, and make sure the domain already points at the server.
Not with the stock image, which holds Frappe and ERPNext only. Build a custom image with the script’s build command first, or install them with bench.
We set up ERPNext for production — HTTPS, backups you can restore, monitoring and upgrades — and stay on call. Talk to a consultant.
