One site, many apps
Apps install side by side on the same Frappe site and share its users, permissions and database.
Some need ERPNext, most do not
Frappe HR, India Compliance, Webshop and eCommerce Integrations build on ERPNext. CRM, Helpdesk, Insights, Learning and the rest do not need it.
Mind the licence
Frappe and Payments are MIT, ERPNext and Frappe HR GPL v3, and several newer apps AGPL v3 — which matters if you change them and offer them as a service.
Not any more. Employees stay in ERPNext, but leave, attendance and payroll are in Frappe HR — a separate app that needs ERPNext on the same site.
No. Both run on Frappe alone. Helpdesk needs the Telephony app; Frappe CRM can create customers in ERPNext when both are installed.
Install India Compliance, an app by Resilient Tech that adds GST returns, e-invoicing, e-way bills and Indian income tax and VAT on top of ERPNext.
Use the version-16 branch where an app has one. For the others the map shows the stable branch whose declared Frappe range includes version 16 — and flags CRM and Helpdesk, where Frappe’s supported-versions page still lists the main branch against version 15.
All are open source. Frappe and Payments are MIT, ERPNext, Frappe HR and India Compliance GPL v3, and Helpdesk, CRM, Insights, Learning, Gameplan and Raven AGPL v3.
