A grocery business that takes orders on the phone can only grow as fast as someone can answer it. BigBuket needed the whole platform — and needed it from day one.

Grocery is a business of small baskets and tight windows. A customer wants tomatoes, milk and rice before dinner, not tomorrow. Take that order by phone or WhatsApp and someone has to write it down, check the shelf, work out a delivery and tell a rider — and when the shelf doesn't match the list, the customer finds out at the door.
That was the starting point for BigBuket, an online grocery delivery start-up in Bengaluru. As a new business with no platform, orders came in by phone and WhatsApp, there was no delivery tracking, and the stock and catalogue were out of sync.
Acube built BigBuket the whole platform: a customer mobile app, a web store, and delivery and store apps — with catalogue, cart and checkout, online payment and cash on delivery, delivery slots and a rider app, and an admin dashboard. BigBuket launched on app and web, orders now flow without calls, deliveries are tracked end to end, and the business scaled up. The project was delivered before 2019.

BigBuket wasn't replacing an old system — it had none. Everything an online grocer needs had to exist before the business could run the way it intended.
There was no proper ordering channel; every order was a conversation.
Once an order left, nobody could see where it or the rider was.
Items shown as available weren't always in stock.
The app, the store, the delivery flow and the back office all had to be built.
The cost of staying as-is: an online grocer without an online platform is a phone line with a delivery bike. It can't take more orders than it can answer, and it can't promise what it can't see on the shelf.
The platform end to end — what the customer uses, what the rider uses, and what the team uses to run it.
| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Customer mobile app | Customers browse and order groceries from their phone. |
| Web store | The same shopping on the web. |
| Catalogue, cart & checkout | Customers browse products, fill a cart and check out — the full ordering flow, without a call. |
| Online payment + cash on delivery | Customers pay online or pay on delivery, whichever they prefer. |
| Delivery slots | Customers choose a delivery slot when they order. |
| Rider app | Delivery riders receive their orders on an app. |
| Admin / store dashboard | The team manages products, prices, orders and stock in one place. |
BigBuket didn't give us order or user numbers, so we are not quoting any. All four of these changed after launch:
Customers order on the mobile app and the web store.
Ordering moved off the phone and WhatsApp and onto the platform.
Every order is followed through to the doorstep.
BigBuket grew after the platform went live.
Each part of the platform answers one of BigBuket's problems. Cart and checkout replace the phone order. The admin dashboard keeps products, prices and stock in one place, which is what keeps the catalogue honest. Delivery slots and the rider app turn delivery from a guess into a tracked step. And because BigBuket was a new business, all of it was designed together — the customer's order, the rider's job and the team's dashboard are the same order at different stages.
Offering both online payment and cash on delivery meant customers didn't have to change how they like to pay in order to use the app. We have built ordering and delivery platforms for other businesses too — see Dumas Bakes N Meals — and 70% of our work comes by referral.
A platform like BigBuket's is worth considering when:
and need everything — customer app, web store, rider app and back office — built together.
, so you can only take as many as someone can answer.
, and customers find out at the door.
once it leaves.
online or cash on delivery.
If you're in that position, building the parts together matters: the order, the delivery and the stock should be the same record at different stages, not three separate tools.

Yes — that was BigBuket's situation exactly. Acube built the customer app, web store, rider app, delivery slots, payments and admin dashboard.
Yes. BigBuket's platform supports both online payment and cash on delivery.
On a rider app. BigBuket's delivery staff receive orders on the app, and each order is tracked through to delivery.
By managing products, prices and stock in the same admin dashboard that the orders come into, rather than in a separate list. Out-of-sync stock was one of BigBuket's problems at the start.
Yes. BigBuket customers choose a delivery slot when they order.
No. The same pieces — catalogue, cart, payment, delivery slots, rider app and an admin dashboard — apply to most businesses that take orders and deliver them.
