A bookshop can only sell to people who walk in. Eyebooks put its shelves online — and started taking orders from across India.

Books are a business of range. A reader wants one particular title — a Malayalam novel, an exam guide, a textbook — and if the shop isn't nearby, or the title isn't on the shelf in front of them, the sale goes somewhere else. Without an online store, a bookseller's reach ends at its own door.
That was the situation at Eyebooks, a bookseller in Kerala selling Malayalam books, English and general titles, and academic and exam books. They had no online store.
Acube built Eyebooks an online bookstore with catalogue, search and cart, online payment and cash on delivery, order tracking and delivery, and an admin for stock and orders. The store launched online, orders now come from across India, customers order without calling, and sales grew. The project was delivered before 2019.

Eyebooks' problem was a single one, and it decided everything else.
The cost of staying as-is: a bookseller without an online store competes only for readers who can reach the shop — while the same titles are a search away for everyone else.
A complete online bookstore — the shop the reader sees, and the back office the team runs it from.
| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Catalogue, search & cart | Readers browse, search for a title and add books to a cart. |
| Online payment + cash on delivery | Readers pay online or on delivery, whichever they prefer. |
| Order tracking & delivery | Customers track their order to the door. |
| Admin for stock & orders | The team manages titles, stock and orders in one place. |
| Malayalam, English and academic titles | One store for the whole range Eyebooks sells. |
Eyebooks didn't give us order numbers, so we are not quoting any. Four things changed:
Eyebooks sells books on the web.
Readers far beyond Kerala can now buy from Eyebooks.
Customers find the book, pay and order themselves.
More orders came in after launch.
For a bookseller, search is the feature that matters most. A reader rarely browses a whole catalogue — they arrive looking for one title. A store where that title can be found in seconds turns a passing search into a sale.
Cash on delivery alongside online payment let readers who weren't ready to pay online still buy, which matters when the store is reaching new customers far from home. Order tracking answers the question every online buyer asks — where is my book? — before they need to call. And the admin for stock and orders keeps what the store shows in line with what is on the shelf. Together, they let a Kerala bookseller serve readers across India. We have built online stores for other Kerala retailers too — see Kitchen Needs — and 70% of our work comes by referral.
An online store like Eyebooks' is worth considering when:
You sell only to customers who visit or call.
, and customers want to search it, not browse it.
Customers outside your area ask whether you deliver.
You need both online payment and cash on delivery.
You want to manage stock and orders in one place.
If that sounds like you, the first step is your catalogue — how many titles, how they are organised, and how stock is kept today.
See what it would cost — Answer a few plain questions about how you work, and see a real figure.

Eyebooks launched with a web store. Many shops start with the web and add an app later if their customers want one.
