A kitchen and household store carries thousands of everyday items — utensils, provisions, cleaning supplies — that people need regularly and would happily order without leaving home. But if the only way to buy is to visit the shop, the store's customers are limited to those who live nearby and have the time to come in.
That was the situation at Kitchen Needs, a Kerala retailer selling kitchenware and utensils, groceries and provisions, and home and household goods. They had no online store.
Acube built Kitchen Needs an e-commerce website with catalogue, search and cart, online payment and cash on delivery, order tracking, and an admin for products and orders. The store launched online, customers now order without calling, its reach widened beyond the local area, and sales grew. The project was delivered before 2019.

Kitchen Needs had a wide range and a loyal local trade. What it lacked was a way to sell beyond the shop.
The cost of staying as-is: everyday household goods are exactly what people now order online. A store that can't take those orders hands them to one that can.
An online store built around how people shop for everyday kitchen and household items — search for what you need, add it, pay, and track it.
| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Catalogue, search & cart | Customers browse categories, search for a product and add it to a cart. |
| Online payment + cash on delivery | Customers pay online or on delivery. |
| Order tracking | Customers can see where their order is. |
| Admin for products & orders | The team manages the catalogue, stock and orders in one place. |
| Kitchenware, groceries and household goods | The whole range in one store. |
Kitchen Needs didn't give us sales figures, so we are not quoting any. All four of these changed:
Kitchen Needs sells on the web.
Customers order and pay themselves.
Customers beyond the local area now buy from the store.
More orders came in after launch.
For everyday goods, search does the heavy lifting. A customer looking for a particular pan or a household staple wants to find it in seconds, not scroll through a catalogue. A store that makes that easy turns a quick search into an order.
Cash on delivery alongside online payment lowered the barrier for new customers trying the store for the first time. Order tracking answers the "where is it?" question without a call. And the admin for products and orders lets the team keep the online catalogue in line with what they actually have. We have built online stores for other Kerala retailers too — see Eyebooks — and 70% of our work comes by referral.
An online store like Kitchen Needs' is worth considering when:
You sell only to customers who visit the shop.
and customers want to search it.
Customers outside your area ask whether you deliver.
as well as online payment.
in one place.
If that's you, the first step is your catalogue: how many products, how they're grouped, and how stock is tracked today.
See what it would cost — Answer a few plain questions about how you work, and see a real figure.
