Renting a motorcycle used to mean a phone call, a visit and a register. CafeRides put the whole rental — and the fleet behind it — into an app.
Free, no-obligation consult — just a real person.

Someone wants a motorcycle for the weekend. Which bikes are free on Saturday? What does a day cost? Is their licence checked before they ride off? When a rental business runs on phone calls and walk-ins, each of those questions waits for a person — and the business can only see its own fleet as well as its register is kept.
That was the starting point for CafeRides, a motorcycle rental business in Kerala. As a new business with no platform, bookings came by phone or walk-in, nobody could see which bikes were free, and records and payments were manual.
Acube built CafeRides a customer app, a driver / partner app and an admin web panel, on Android and iOS. Customers book by the hour or day, pay online and upload their ID and licence; partners list and manage their own bikes and accept bookings. Bookings now run online around the clock, the fleet's availability is live, payments are tracked automatically, and more partners and bikes joined the platform. The project was delivered before 2019.

CafeRides wanted a rental business that customers could use from their phone, and a fleet that could grow beyond the bikes it owned. Neither was possible with a phone and a register.
There was no way to book online.
Availability wasn't visible, to the business or the customer.
Bookings were kept in a register or Excel, and cash was handled by hand.
The apps and the back office all had to be built.
The cost of staying as-is: a rental business that can only take bookings when someone answers the phone has capped its own growth — and can't add other owners' bikes to its fleet without a way to manage them.
Three parts that work as one platform: one for the rider, one for the bike owner, and one for the team running it.
| Capability | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Customer app (Android & iOS) | Riders book a motorcycle from their phone. |
| Book by the hour or day | Customers choose a bike, a start time and a duration. |
| Online payment | Customers pay in the app. |
| ID / licence upload | Customers upload their documents before the ride, as part of booking. |
| Partner app (Android & iOS) | Bike owners list their motorcycles and accept bookings — managing their own fleet on the platform. |
| Admin web panel | The CafeRides team manages bookings, fleet and payments from the back office. |
CafeRides didn't give us booking or fleet counts, so we are not quoting any. All four of these changed after launch:
Customers book without a phone call, at any hour.
The business always knows which bikes are free.
Less cash handling and fewer errors.
The fleet grew on the platform.
The partner app is what turned an app into a platform. Because owners can list and manage their own bikes, the fleet CafeRides can offer isn't limited to the bikes it owns — and after launch, more partners and bikes joined.
The rest follows the rental journey. Booking by the hour or day matches how people rent motorcycles. ID and licence upload happens during booking, not at the counter. Online payment completes the booking in one step and leaves a record behind it — which is what "payments tracked automatically" means in practice. And because CafeRides was new, the customer app, partner app and admin panel were designed together, around the same booking.
Releasing on both Android and iOS meant every customer and partner could use it, whatever phone they carry. We have built rental and mobility apps for other Kerala businesses too — see AVS Rent A Car and EVM Wheels — and 70% of our work comes by referral.
A platform like CafeRides' is worth considering when:
, so you only take the bookings someone is there to handle.
You can't see at a glance which vehicles are free.
, and cash takes time to reconcile.
to your fleet, without you managing each one manually.
ID and licence — before they ride.
If that sounds like your rental business, the place to start is the booking journey: what a customer chooses, what they must provide and when they pay. The apps follow from that.
