Pepper, coffee and cardamom are bought on moisture, grade and outturn, yet the purchase screen only asks for quantity and rate. We add quality parameters to the receipt and let the rate follow them, so the price paid can be explained later.
At many Wayanad collection points the weight is read off a scale and written down twice before it reaches the computer. A custom integration takes the reading from the weighbridge or platform scale into the receipt directly.

An example
At a spice counter beside the SIDCO sheds in Sulthan Bathery, a grower tips a sack of black pepper onto the platform scale. The weight flows into the purchase receipt on its own. The clerk enters the moisture reading and the litre weight from the density can, and the rate for that grade appears from the table the owner set that morning. A bilingual slip prints, Malayalam copy for the grower, English copy for the file. In the back office the position report already shows the new lot by grade and average cost. When the auditor asks in March why one lot was paid above the day's rate, the receipt shows the density that justified it. Nobody has typed a weight twice all day.
