Metal reflects radio waves, so ordinary tags placed directly on metal read poorly. Jewellery tagging uses purpose-made tags that hang clear of the ornament, and tray and reader arrangements designed for it. This is exactly why we insist on a pilot in your own showroom before any full rollout.
Barcodes are fine for billing. The difference is counting: a barcode must be seen and scanned one at a time, while RFID reads many tags at once without line of sight. If your pain is the daily or monthly count, RFID helps. If it is only billing speed, keep barcodes.
