A home-goods brand runs its main godown in the Attibele estate, on the Tamil Nadu border, and two shops in the city. On Tuesday the marketplace cut-off is four o'clock. From noon the picker works from system-generated pick lists, scanning each bin and each carton; an order for a lamp that the Jayanagar shop sold that morning never reaches his list, because the stock ledger already knew. A return arrives from a customer in Whitefield, is inspected and put back as sellable with a scan. At three the supervisor raises a transfer of forty cushion covers to the Indiranagar shop for the weekend, and the delivery challan and e-way bill print together. At four the courier leaves, and the owner's phone shows stock by location, the day's dispatches and two items below reorder level.
