Shift change at a Whitefield employee-transport yard

An employee-transport operator with a yard near the Whitefield railway station runs the evening shift change on a Tuesday. At half past five the dispatcher opens the trip board: forty cabs due at a tech park in the export park by seven, twelve of them vendor vehicles. Two drivers have not reported; the board shows which spare cars have valid permits and assigns them. Each cab's trip sheet is created against the client's roster, and the drivers see only their pick-up list on the phone. A fill-up at the pump on Whitefield Road is logged against the odometer before the cab leaves. By ten the night's trip sheets are approved, the vendor owner's statement for the day is ready, and the month's invoice to the campus administrator will be built from these sheets rather than argued over.
