We would rather say no to RFID than sell it where a barcode would do. Tags, readers and printers cost money, and in a shop that handles fifty lines a day they solve nothing a scanner does not solve more cheaply. The case appears when hundreds or thousands of items have to be accounted for at once, repeatedly.
Where that is true, tags on crates, cartons or garments are read in bulk by fixed or handheld readers, without line of sight and without opening anything. A cold or bulk store is counted rarely because counting means moving everything and losing a day. A handheld sweep reads the room in minutes, so verification becomes weekly rather than annual and differences are found while they can still be traced.
Graded output packed in the same carton differs only by a mark somebody wrote. Tagged at packing with grade, lot and date, the carton identifies itself at despatch and the wrong grade cannot leave on the right invoice.
In a crowded showroom during the season, shrinkage is discovered weeks later in a stock check. Tagged high-value lines and a reader at the exit turn that into an alert at the moment it happens, which is the only time it can be dealt with.
An example
A godown at a processing unit near Kasaragod town holds several hundred cartons on the morning a buyer's inspection is due. Two years ago this meant a day of counting and a stack of tally sheets. Now a supervisor walks the aisles with a handheld reader for twelve minutes and the system shows what is present by grade and lot, what the books expected, and three cartons that are somewhere else. Those three are found in the despatch bay, already loaded against another order. The inspection starts on time, and the correction has been made before anyone signs anything.
We size a pilot first: one store, one product line, a fixed number of tags and one reader, with a measurement agreed in advance of what success looks like. If the pilot does not pay, we say so and stop. If it does, the rollout follows in stages, with the ERPNext side configured so a sweep posts to stock rather than producing another spreadsheet.

Quite possibly, and we will tell you. One godown counted twice a year rarely justifies tags. One godown counted weekly, with cartons that look alike and a despatch error that costs a buyer relationship, sometimes does. The pilot is how we find out.
With the right tag, yes. Moisture and metal both affect reading, which is why tag type and placement are tested in your own conditions before any quantity is ordered. A tag chosen from a catalogue rather than a trial is how these projects fail.
