Staff can stay only a short while at freezing temperatures, so full counts are skipped and errors accumulate. With tagged cartons or pallets, a handheld reader sweeps an aisle in moments, and the count is compared with ERP stock on the spot.
When cartons look alike, the wrong grade or lot can be loaded, and the mistake surfaces at the buyer's warehouse overseas. A fixed reader at the loading bay checks each tagged carton against the delivery note before the doors close.
In large plants, costly tools, instruments and spares move between stores and contractors with little record. Tagged items read at store exits and during periodic sweeps give a custody trail, so a missing item is noticed in days.
An example
A seafood exporter at Neendakara is stuffing a container for a buyer in Japan this evening. At midday the store supervisor puts on a jacket, walks the two aisles of the cold store with a Zebra handheld, and comes out minutes later with a count of every tagged master carton by species, grade and glaze. The reader has compared the sweep with ERPNext stock and shows one pallet of shrimp the books say is here and the aisle says is not. It is found in the blast freezer and moved in the system. At the loading bay a fixed reader checks each carton against the delivery note as the forklift passes, and the doors close on a load that matches its papers.

They can, with the right tags. Cold, moisture and metal all affect radio reads, which is why tag choice and placement are tested during the pilot. Tags exist for metal surfaces and low temperatures, and we select from those.
Sometimes barcodes are enough, and we will say so. RFID earns its place where counts are frequent, items look alike, access is difficult, or a loading error is expensive. The pilot exists to prove the return on your own floor first.
