Most ERP software was designed around a factory or a shop. Idukki runs on things those designs never met: green leaf weighed at a muster shed, cardamom pooled into lots for the auction, pepper bought at a moisture discount, a jeep safari sold along with a room. Staff here end up keeping the real record in a notebook because the software has no place for it.
ERPNext customisation adds those places. On the Frappe framework we build new forms, fields, print formats, reports, approval flows and integrations that sit inside standard ERPNext and keep working after upgrades. The point is a system a Kattappana trader or a Munnar estate clerk recognises on the first day.
Cardamom is priced on size, colour and litre weight; pepper on moisture and density. When the software records only quantity and rate, the grading stays on paper. Custom quality fields on purchase and stock entries put the grade beside the weight, and reports can then compare price realised by grade.
Lot slips, pooling statements, grower settlement notes and commission bills are usually made in Excel after the sale. Custom documents and print formats generate them from the stock and sales records, in the layout the trade already uses.

Not if they are built properly. We keep custom work in a separate app on the Frappe framework instead of editing ERPNext's own code, which is what allows upgrades to go through. We test each upgrade against your custom features on a staging copy first.
Often a few fields and two or three print formats are all that is needed, and that is a small job. We will tell you plainly when standard ERPNext already does what you want. Customising for its own sake only makes a system harder to maintain.
In most cases, yes. If the scale or weighbridge indicator can send its reading to a computer, we can capture that weight straight into the purchase or stock entry, which removes both typing and temptation. We check the model during discovery before promising it.
