A cardamom trading house in Kattappana may have run the same way for decades: the founder knew every grower, approved every advance and carried the stock position in his head. Business process optimisation and control design is the work of making those rules explicit. We map how purchase, grading, stock, sales, cash and payroll actually happen, identify where errors and losses occur, and design simpler processes with clear controls: who approves what, which record proves it, and what report would reveal a problem. The output is a blueprint you can act on, with or without new software.
Crop advances are given across the year on trust, recorded in a pocket book and adjusted at harvest. Without a control, some are forgotten and others adjusted twice. A defined advance register, limits by grower and a settlement step close the gap.

We are careful about this. The exercise is presented as improving the system and not as auditing people, and we design processes with the staff who run them. In family firms in particular, controls that protect employees from suspicion are usually welcomed once they are explained.
