At a rubber goods unit in the KSIDC zone at Pudussery, the morning shift starts with the supervisor opening a job card that already shows the mould's shot count and the compound batch's remaining shelf life. He books the first run from a tablet by the press. In the stores, a drum of compound arrives from Coimbatore and the goods receipt is created by scanning the supplier's label. The purchase officer's request for a new mould, above her limit, sits waiting on the owner's phone, and he approves it from the car. By afternoon the dispatch clerk prints the customer's own inspection report format straight from the delivery note, and the lorry for Hosur leaves without a single figure being typed twice.
What does a rubber moulding unit at Canal Pirivu have in common with a snack maker in Ottapalam or an implement maker at Kulappully? All three can run on ERPNext, and none will be happy with it straight out of the box. One needs mould life and compound batches on the job card. One needs expiry dates, distributor schemes and van routes. The standard product covers accounts and stock. The last stretch is theirs alone.

Auto-component buyers in Coimbatore and Hosur ask for their own invoice layout, packing slip and inspection report with every dispatch. Custom print formats pull part numbers, batch numbers and inspection values straight from the transaction, so the paperwork leaves with the lorry.
