Stock accuracy is a daily argument in Palakkad's industrial belt. A warehouse at Walayar holds goods for several owners and must account for every pallet. A rubber goods unit in Kanjikode owns moulds worth more than its building and cannot always say which press they are on. Annual stocktaking shuts operations for days and still ends with a list of differences nobody can explain.
RFID changes the method. Tagged items are read in bulk, at a distance and without line of sight, by handheld or fixed Zebra readers. A room is counted in minutes. A dock door records what passed through it. The reads flow into ERPNext, so the system figure and the physical figure are the same number. It is not right for everything. Loose paddy and bulk rice are better handled by weight. We say where tags pay and where they do not.
Third-party warehouses near the border count by hand, pallet by pallet, to satisfy their customers' auditors. With a tag on each pallet or carton and a handheld reader, a full aisle is counted while walking. Counts can be done weekly without halting inward and outward movement.
Moulds, dies, gauges and fixtures move between presses, the tool room and outside repairers. Records are in a notebook. Metal-mount tags and readers at the tool room door log every movement, and the ERP shows where each item is, who took it and when it is due for maintenance.
A mis-shipment to a distributor in Tamil Nadu is found days later and costs a return trip. A fixed reader at the dispatch bay checks tagged pallets against the delivery note as the forklift passes and raises an alarm when something does not belong to that load.

Technically yes, practically seldom. Tagging every low-value bag rarely makes sense. Tagging pallets, lots or godown bays can, especially for branded rice moving to distributors. For paddy and bulk rice, weighbridge integration and lot tracking in ERPNext give better control. We will advise against RFID where barcodes or weights do the job.
Barcodes are fine when items are few and each can be presented to a scanner. RFID earns its place when volume is high, counting is frequent or items are hard to reach, such as pallets on upper racks or tools inside cabinets. Many sites use both, with barcodes on items and RFID on pallets and assets.
Zebra handheld and fixed readers, antennas and printers, chosen for industrial conditions such as dust, heat and forklifts. Tags are selected for the surface: paper labels for cartons, hard tags for metal moulds and bins. The readers connect to ERPNext through our integration, so there is no separate stock system to reconcile.
