Lending is an old Kottayam trade, from service cooperative banks to gold loan and vehicle finance firms; loan software brings their ledgers, schedules and collections into one view.

Trusted by 200+ organisations across India & overseas — including

Interest on reducing balances worked out by a clerk with a calculator, disputed at closure
Schedules generated by the product rule, with part-payments and foreclosure recalculated the same way every time
Overdues noticed when someone reads through the ledger
Daily overdue lists by branch and officer, reminders sent, and arrears seen while still recoverable
Gold packets and title deeds in a separate custody register
Collateral linked to the loan record with custody and release steps, matched at closure and audit
Few districts lend in as many forms as Kottayam. Primary cooperative societies give crop and replanting loans to rubber growers. Private finance companies in Kottayam town, Changanassery and Erattupetta lend against gold, vehicles and property. Dealerships run their own hire-purchase books. Behind many of these sits a custom program written years ago, or ledgers and Excel sheets where interest is worked out by a clerk with a calculator.
ERPNext lending covers the full cycle: loan products with their interest method, tenure, charges and moratorium rules; application, KYC and sanction workflows; disbursal with automatic ledger posting; repayment schedules with part-payment and foreclosure; interest and penalty accrual; collateral and guarantor records; a mobile tool for field collection; and NPA classification, ageing and provisioning reports. Accounts are built in, so the loan book and the general ledger cannot disagree.

An example
A collection officer from a finance company in Kanjirappally starts his round with the day's list on his phone: borrowers whose instalments fell due this week, sorted by route. At a smallholding above Mundakkayam the grower pays part of the instalment in cash; the officer records it, the receipt prints from a small printer in his bag, and the loan account updates at the branch while he is still at the gate. The next borrower asks for the closure amount on a gold loan; the officer reads it from the schedule rather than ringing the branch. In town the branch manager watches the collections arrive and sees which promises were kept. In the evening the cashier confirms the cash deposited against the officer's entries, and the arrears list is ready for tomorrow.
Lending systems carry live balances, so migration is the heart of the project. We visit your main branch and outlying branches in Kottayam to understand products and existing records, then migrate loan by loan with opening schedules verified against your ledgers. Go-live can be branch by branch. Staff are trained at their own counters, and support from Kochi is a call away.
Discovery. Your loan products, interest methods, collection routine and reporting.
Blueprint and fixed scope. A clear plan, the deliverables and the timeline, agreed in writing before configuration starts.
Configuration. Loan products, schedules, disbursement, repayment, collections and the books behind them.
Data migration. Borrowers and running loans with their schedules and outstanding balances.
Training, go-live and support. Your team tests on real data, we stand beside you at launch, then support continues under a plan.
The scope and timeline are agreed in writing before work starts.
Banking and cooperative finance
Member-linked loans for cooperative societies with committee sanction workflow, surety records, and reports in the classifications auditors ask for, alongside deposits and share capital in the same books.
Plantation agriculture (rubber, spices)
Crop, replanting and farm equipment loans to rubber and spice growers, with seasonal or harvest-linked repayment schedules in place of fixed monthly instalments, and interest subvention tracked where it applies.
Automobile and machinery dealerships
In-house vehicle and machinery finance with hire-purchase schedules, document custody until closure, field collection for rural borrowers, and a clear split between the dealership's sales and lending books.
It can be, with configuration. ERPNext handles members, loans, accounts and reporting, and we add formats and workflows that societies need. Requirements differ between societies, so we review your bye-laws, products and audit formats before confirming the fit.
Yes. The collection app shows the agent's list for the day, records the payment and visit notes with location, and issues a receipt. Entries sync to the loan account, so the branch in Pala or Vaikom sees collections as they happen, not the next morning.
No. ERPNext lending is a loan management system for cooperatives, NBFCs, finance companies and in-house lending. It is not a core banking platform with savings accounts, clearing and ATM networks. We will say clearly where the boundary lies for your institution.
After a first conversation about your loan products, branches and the volume of running loans, we agree the scope and send you a written quotation. The price, the deliverables and the timeline are fixed against that scope before any work starts, so nothing grows without your sign-off.
You speak to someone who does this work, not a call centre. They ask about your loan products, how collections run and what you use today. If it looks like a fit, we agree the scope and put it in writing, with the timeline, before any work starts. If it does not, we tell you.

The block's rubber and spice growers borrow for replanting and inputs with harvest-linked repayment; schedules built for seasonal income are what a lender in this belt needs.
