A month-end statement describes a situation that has already passed. Live dashboards show stock value, receivables, cash and sales as of this morning, so a purchase or credit decision is made with current facts.
Sales says one figure, accounts another, because each works from its own file. When everyone reads from one database with agreed definitions, meetings move from arguing about numbers to deciding what to do.
