A plant hire and marine services firm keeps its yard in Mulagada mandal. On Tuesday a refinery contractor wants two chain hoists and a compressor by Thursday morning. The storekeeper opens the asset list for the yard and filters on equipment type. Three hoists are in stock, but one shows a load test certificate expiring this week, so it stays behind. The compressor's service is due in forty running hours, which is enough for the job. He books the transfer to the contractor's site, prints the gate pass and attaches the current certificates to it. When the lorry reaches the site gate and the security desk asks for papers, they are already in the folder.
In an industrial city the balance sheet is mostly equipment. A marine workshop owns generators, compressors and lifting tackle that shift between its shed, the dock and vessels at berth.
