Consider how stock is verified in a furnishing export unit. Hundreds of fabric rolls, many in near-identical shades, are stacked to the roof. A physical count means pulling rolls down, reading handwritten tags and ticking a sheet, and it takes days. So it is done once a year, badly. In between, nobody is sure which roll is where, and merchandisers order fresh fabric that was already lying in the godown.
RFID changes the arithmetic. Each roll, carton, pallet or asset carries a tag that a reader detects from a distance, without line of sight and many at a time. We deploy Zebra handheld and fixed readers, printers and tags, and integrate them directly with ERPNext, so a walk down the aisle with a handheld becomes a stock count and a dock-door reader records what left the building.
Two lots of the same colour dyed on different days must never be mixed in one shipment. Tagging rolls by lot lets packing staff confirm with a scan that every piece in a carton belongs together, before the container leaves for the port.
Plywood and veneer are stored in heavy stacks by thickness and grade. Counting sheet by sheet is impractical, so book stock drifts from reality. Pallet-level tags read by a handheld give a fast, repeatable count that can be done monthly.

Wood with high moisture absorbs radio energy, so tag choice and placement matter. For finished plywood, pallet or bundle tags read reliably. For green timber and logs we test specific tag types during the pilot and tell you honestly if barcodes are the better tool.
Barcodes need each item to be found, turned and scanned one at a time. RFID reads many items at once from a distance. If your counts are quick and accurate today, keep barcodes. RFID pays where volume or handling effort makes counting rare.
