A Tuesday morning in the weaving street at Azhikode. Two designers sit with three elderly weavers on a veranda, a prototype of a welfare portal on a borrowed phone. The first weaver is asked to find her pension status; she taps the large Malayalam button, enters her phone number and reads the figure aloud. The second cannot find the certificate download, so it is moved up on the spot. The third asks why the screen wants her husband's name, and the field is removed. By afternoon the team is in a handloom showroom in Kannur town watching a customer buy a bedsheet set from the same prototype. Both sessions shape the next version, reviewed from Kochi on Thursday.
