A full count of a coir godown means pulling down stacks and halting loading for days, so it happens once a year at best. With tagged bales, a person walks the aisles with a handheld reader and the count is finished before lunch, by item, design and export order.
Manual checks inside a freezer are rushed and unreliable. Tagged pallets and crates, read at the cold room door or with a handheld, record what went in, what came out and what should still be inside, without long exposure for the staff.
Garment and coir despatches to dealers are checked by counting cartons at the tailgate, and mistakes surface as complaints a week later. A reader at the loading bay verifies each carton against the delivery note as it goes on, and stops the lorry when one does not belong.
An example
A reefer container is due at an Aroor processing plant at ten. At eight the storekeeper walks the cold room with a Zebra handheld and reads every tagged pallet in a few minutes, without unstacking anything. The reading is compared with the buyer's order in ERPNext and two pallets from an older lot are flagged for this shipment first. As the forklift takes each pallet out, the fixed reader at the door records it against the delivery note, and the packing list is complete when the last pallet leaves. Later, the quality manager answers a buyer's traceability query by pulling the lot's movement history, from the purchase at the landing centre to the door reading that morning.
An RFID project needs a site survey, since metal, water and dense stacking all affect how tags read.
