Chamakada market has supplied southern Kerala's shops for generations on handwritten bills and trusted credit; today's margins leave no room for the errors that way of working allows.

Wholesale is an old craft in Kollam. The lanes of the old town deal in rice, provisions, spices and dry fish. Distributors for consumer goods, building materials and farm inputs work from godowns on the bypass and at Kottarakkara, Karunagappally and Punalur, feeding shops down to the smallest junction in the eastern hills. The trade runs on thin margins, supplier schemes, credit to retailers and vans that leave before dawn.
Wholesale and distribution software on ERPNext handles what a billing package cannot: customer-wise price lists and schemes, credit limits and outstanding control, orders taken by salesmen in the field, route and van sales, purchase planning, batch and expiry tracking, multi-godown stock and tax accounts, all connected. Scattered knowledge becomes a system that works when the owner is away.

Principals offer quantity discounts, free goods and target incentives that have to be tracked and claimed. When this lives in a salesman's notebook, money is left behind. Recording schemes against purchases and sales shows what was earned, claimed and received.
A salesman eager to close an order supplies a shop that already owes too much. Credit limits and overdue checks applied at the moment the order is taken, with an override only by the owner, stop the exposure growing unseen.
Goods loaded in the morning come back as cash, credit bills, returns and unsold stock. Treating each van as a warehouse, with load, sale and return entries, settles the vehicle every evening to the last carton.
An example
The van for the Anchal and Pathanapuram route is loaded at five, against a load sheet drawn from yesterday's orders plus a buffer for counter sales. Each carton is issued to the van, which the system holds as a warehouse of its own. By nine the salesman is booking from a shop counter on his phone, and it shows the outstanding before he takes the order. Two shops are over their limit and the screen says so. In the evening the van returns with cash, credit bills, returns and unsold cartons, and the settlement balances without the owner counting a single carton himself.
We prefer to learn a distribution business by spending a morning at the godown and a day out with a salesman. Item, customer and price masters are then built with your staff in Kollam, opening stock and outstanding are loaded, and billing moves over on a chosen date. Salesmen get a mobile order screen and a short session on it. Support afterwards is remote and quick.
Discovery. Your customers, price lists, routes, warehouses and how orders are taken.
Blueprint and fixed scope. A clear plan, the deliverables and the timeline, agreed in writing before configuration starts.
Configuration. Price lists, schemes, sales orders, delivery, credit limits and collections.
Data migration. Customers, items, price lists, opening stock and outstanding balances.
Training, go-live and support. Your team tests on real data, we stand beside you at launch, then support continues under a plan.
The scope and timeline are agreed in writing before work starts.
Retail and wholesale trade
Distributors of provisions, consumer goods and building materials manage dealer price lists, salesman orders and collections, route-wise dispatch, expiry-dated stock and principal-wise profit from godowns in Kollam city and the taluk towns.
Food processing units
Bakery, chips and pickle makers selling through the trade need route coverage, expiry-tracked batches, returns from shops handled without argument, and profitability by pack size and by territory.
Coir and allied products
Dealers in fibre, yarn, mats and rope buy from societies and small producers, hold stock by quality and size, and sell in bulk to exporters and institutional buyers on negotiated rates.
Yes. A mobile screen lets the salesman pick the customer, see outstanding and last order, enter items and submit. The order reaches the godown for picking before he has left the shop. It works on ordinary phones and tolerates a patchy signal on hill routes.
Through batch tracking. Each batch carries its expiry date, stock is picked earliest-expiry first, and reports list what is nearing expiry by item and godown, so it can be pushed out or returned to the principal within the allowed period.
They can. Price lists may be set by customer group, territory or individual customer, and pricing rules can apply discounts by quantity or period. For commodities whose rates move daily, a price list can be updated in moments and applies to every new bill.
After a first conversation about your customers, price lists, warehouses and how orders are taken today, we agree the scope and send you a written quotation. The price, the deliverables and the timeline are fixed against that scope before any work starts, so nothing grows without your sign-off.
You speak to someone who does this work, not a call centre. They ask about how orders come in, how you price and how collections are followed up. If it looks like a fit, we agree the scope and put it in writing, with the timeline, before any work starts. If it does not, we tell you.

The far eastern block towards the ghats adds distance to every delivery, which is why route-wise cost and order booking from the shop counter matter more here than in the city.
