It is a Tuesday in a motor works on the SIDCO estate at Kurichi. A dealer from the Pollachi side rings with an order for submersible sets. The sales clerk enters it, and the system checks stampings, windings and castings against stock and against what is lying with two job workers in Ganapathy. A shortage shows for one casting grade, so purchase raises an order on the foundry before lunch. In the afternoon the stores issue kits to assembly by scanning the work order. By evening the e-invoice and e-way bill are raised from the same sales order, and the owner sees the day's despatch value on his phone as the lorry pulls out onto the Pollachi road.
