A finance company with its head office at Somajiguda has asked for a redesign of the screen its officers use to approve small loans. Before drawing anything, our designer sits beside an officer for a morning and watches. He keeps a paper note of the applicant's phone number because the field is on the third tab. He calculates the EMI on his phone because the screen shows it only after submission. He scrolls past a warning every time because it is the same colour as the heading. By the afternoon the designer has a list of such moments, and the new wireframe puts the phone number, the EMI and the warning where his eyes already go. The prototype is tested with two more officers on video before a line of code is written.

Remote usability sessions work well. A user shares their screen, attempts set tasks on the prototype and thinks aloud while we record. For shop-floor or counter staff who are not comfortable on video, we run sessions during a visit.
